Courtney Cares Foundation received a 501-C3 in October of 2023 and proudly donates proceeds to the research of rare diseases such as Sarcoma and other cancers that are underfunded throughout the US. Courtney Cares Foundation also donates to other non-profits such as Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma, Sarcoma Foundation of America, Mental Health America and The Trevor Project to name a few. Proceeds also help support our fundraising events and programs such as Ask Coco and Courtney’s Club.

Courtney was diagnosed with a stage 3 Synovial Sarcoma in October of 2017. She received a very aggressive form of chemotherapy called Doxirubicon which is nicknamed the “Red Devil” as it is reddish in color and very invasive, a non-stop 4 day infusion. She also received 30 rounds of radiation and a 7 hour surgery to remove the tumor that grew to the size of a softball. Unfortunately, pathology tests showed her tumor did not shrink or die much after the chemotherapy, but she continued with 3 more 4 day nonstop rounds of chemotherapy anyway. With little funding to rare diseases, it becomes difficult for her doctors to predict the chance of reoccurrence and our hope is to provide funds to help change this unfortunate statistic that affects so many others aside from Courtney who were also diagnosed with rare diseases.

When Courtney was sick and unsure if she would survive, she wrote down all the things she would do if she got a second chance at life. Starting her own non-profit was at the top of her list as she loves helping others and has always wanted that to be a part of her story.
